Associate Data Analyst

About the role

Sanlam Life and Savings is seeking an Associate Data Analyst to join the SBI Business Solutions team. The role supports data preparation, analysis and visualization tasks, ensuring data quality and delivering actionable insights to internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in acquiring data from various sources and transforming it into usable datasets under supervision.
• Support data profiling, cleansing, and verification to maintain data integrity.
• Participate in analysing data, identifying trends, and creating reports or dashboards.
• Maintain and update dashboards, handling ad‑hoc reporting requests.
• Collaborate with team members and business users to gather requirements and provide status updates.
• Present information using data visualization techniques.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, statistics, data science, computer science or a related field.
• 1‑2 years of practical experience or internship in analytics, data visualization or reporting.
• Ability to work in a complex business and data environment with high attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and adaptability to change.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX‑MATCH) and other MS Office tools.
• Experience with query tools such as Microsoft Access, Power Pivot, Business Objects.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and familiarity with BI platforms like Cloudera.
• Exposure to agile tools such as Jira.
