Accountant – SAIPA / AGA / SAIT (Cape Town CBD)

About the role

Our client, located in Cape Town CBD, is seeking a registered accountant or tax practitioner (SAIPA, AGA or SAIT) with at least five years of post‑articles experience. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of tax and accounting assignments, preparing detailed reports, and ensuring compliance with South African tax legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex and routine tax calculations and returns.
• Compile tax schedules, management accounts and annual financial statements.
• Submit tax returns, reconciliations and related documentation via SARS eFiling.
• Communicate with clients on tax matters, deadlines and queries.
• Liaise with SARS on objections, appeals and dispute resolution.
• Maintain up‑to‑date working papers and financial reports.
• Train and support junior team members.
• Assist with billing, timesheet management and revenue‑target activities.

Required profile

• Registered tax practitioner or completed SAIPA, SAIT or AGA qualification.
• 6+ years of tax and accounting experience in an audit or accounting firm.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and maintain high attention to detail.
