Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure the reliable operation of our factory’s electrical and mechanical equipment in Durban. The role involves both installation projects and day‑to‑day maintenance of production machinery, infrastructure and power systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute electrical modifications, including cable routing, distribution board changes, and machine relocations.
• Install, commission and size electrical components, update single‑line diagrams and ensure compliance with SANS codes.
• Perform multidisciplinary maintenance on machines, PLCs, control systems, UPS, lighting, generators and LV/MV substations.
• Manage contractors, source prices and oversee spare‑parts inventory to minimise downtime.
• Conduct mandatory inspections, power‑factor correction, earth‑leakage testing and generator checks.
• Record breakdowns, carry out root‑cause analysis and implement preventative maintenance programmes.
• Support goal planning with management and contribute to project‑management activities.

Required profile

• Knowledge of South African occupational health and safety legislation and SANS electrical standards.
• Experience with PLCs, control systems and electrical schematics.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and single‑line diagrams.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to manage contractors and spare‑parts logistics.
• Proven track record in maintaining industrial equipment to OEM specifications.
