Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical) – Packhouse

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join our engineering team at a fast‑paced apple and pear packing facility. You will ensure the reliability and optimal performance of all mechanical equipment, supporting production throughout the packing season.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on packhouse machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime.
• Maintain and service conveyors, grading machines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
• Adhere to health, safety and food‑safety standards at all times.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability.
• Participate in standby duties and respond to breakdowns as required.

Required profile

• Trade‑tested Mechanical Fitter (Red Seal or equivalent) or Qualified Fitter/Turner/Millwright.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or packhouse environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, conveyors and processing equipment.
• Experience with hydraulics and especially pneumatics.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime and weekends during peak season.
