Earthworks Chargehand

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Earthworks Chargehand to coordinate operations and oversee employees on construction sites. The role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in line with company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the earthworks team, ensuring safety and compliance with company procedures.
• Communicate job requirements clearly to the team and monitor daily progress.
• Translate general work requirements into a prioritized work plan and review daily goals.
• Address and resolve issues among team members, promoting teamwork and a positive attitude.
• Report on work progress, maintain disciplinary records, and manage daily time and attendance.
• Recommend workforce actions such as recruitment, releases, promotions, and discipline.
• Facilitate mandatory safety toolbox meetings and ensure completion of safety and hazard assessments.
• Participate in safety/incident investigations and ensure vehicle and equipment checks are performed.

Required profile

• Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a construction environment.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and ability to enforce them.
• Excellent planning and scheduling skills to meet production forecasts.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting to management.
• Ability to handle administrative tasks, including attendance tracking and disciplinary reporting.
