Development Lead: Herbicides, Seed Treatments & Adjuvants

About the role

The Development Lead will drive the creation and optimisation of herbicide, seed treatment and adjuvant products for UPL South Africa. Working within the designated portfolio, the role ensures that trials are planned, executed and documented to meet the requirements of Act 36 of 1947 and align with global food‑safety trends.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and manage approved development projects from concept through field trials.
• Generate comprehensive trial data and compile dossiers that satisfy regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate project scope, progress and budget in close partnership with the Regulatory Specialist and Product Portfolio Manager.
• Translate customer‑centric insights from the sales team into actionable development objectives.
• Support UPL SA exports to Southern African markets by adapting products to regional requirements.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of agricultural product development processes.
• Experience with regulatory frameworks governing agro‑chemicals, particularly Act 36 of 1947.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines and budgets simultaneously.
• Excellent collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams including regulatory, sales and marketing.
