Senior Legal Associate

About the role

The Senior Legal Associate will support the legal and regulatory functions of a fast‑growing fintech operating across Africa. You will work on licensing, contract negotiation, corporate governance and banking relationships, gaining exposure to evolving fintech regulation.

Key responsibilities

• Support new licence applications and manage ongoing licence renewals across multiple jurisdictions.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial, vendor and technology agreements; maintain contract templates.
• Assist with formation and maintenance of corporate entities, statutory filings, annual returns and board resolutions.
• Prepare onboarding documentation for banking, payment and trading counterparties and manage legal relationships with service providers.
• Conduct legal research on financial, crypto and payments regulations and engage with regulators.
• Provide day‑to‑day support on operational, regulatory and strategic legal projects.

Required profile

• LLB degree and admitted attorney.
• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in a law firm or in‑house legal department, focused on financial services, banking & payments, crypto assets or commercial contracts.
• Ability to work independently in both structured and unstructured environments.
• Meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
