Receiving & Dispatch Clerk – Warehouse Operations

About the role

The Receiving & Dispatch Clerk ensures the accurate, timely, and efficient handling of all stock at the sauce plant. This role involves checking incoming and outgoing goods, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with warehouse, production, and transport teams to keep operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Receive incoming stock, verify deliveries against purchase orders, delivery notes or ASN documents, and inspect for damage, temperature issues, and correct labelling.
• Record and escalate any discrepancies or damages, and complete Goods Received Vouchers and related documentation.
• Allocate storage locations, move stock to designated areas, and apply FIFO/FEFO and traceability requirements.
• Pick and stage orders for dispatch, verify against pick slips or sales orders, and resolve shortages or errors.
• Prepare dispatch loads, wrap, label, and secure pallets or cartons to meet customer and transporter requirements.
• Generate and control dispatch paperwork such as delivery notes, waybills, and proof of delivery documents.
• Maintain accurate receipt and dispatch records, support stock reconciliations, cycle counts, and stocktakes.
• Keep receiving and dispatch bays clean, organised, and compliant with GMP, hygiene, and housekeeping standards.
• Follow health, safety, PPE, and traffic‑flow rules, reporting unsafe conditions, near misses, and equipment defects.
• When licensed, safely operate a forklift, perform pre‑shift inspections, and ensure proper stacking and storage.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a warehouse, distribution or FMCG environment, focusing on receiving and/or dispatch.
• Basic knowledge of warehouse operations, stock control, and documentation.
• Understanding of health, safety and basic food‑safety/GMP requirements.
• Valid forklift licence and certification (required if forklift operation is expected).
