Compliance Assurance Officer

About the role

We are looking for a Compliance Assurance Officer to join our audit team within a leading South African bank. The role will support compliance assurance managers and deliver independent reviews that ensure internal controls meet regulatory and policy requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent, risk‑based compliance assurance reviews across business lines.
• Plan, scope and execute on‑ground testing activities according to the annual monitoring plan.
• Design testing procedures, select samples and evaluate operational controls.
• Document findings, root causes and recommendations in high‑quality reports for senior management.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop corrective action plans and monitor their implementation.
• Assess the effectiveness of Management Action Plans and perform ongoing automated and manual monitoring.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of compliance methodologies, tools and stay current with South African and global regulatory developments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, Law, Finance or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CIA, CISA, CA(SA) – preferred or in progress.
• 4+ years of experience in audit or assurance functions.
• Strong knowledge of audit and compliance assurance standards and risk‑based auditing.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
