Design Engineer

About the role

This full‑time, on‑site position is based at the client’s premises in Somerset West. The Design Engineer will develop detailed design specifications, create product prototypes and use computer‑aided design (CAD) tools to turn concepts into manufacturable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and document detailed design specifications for new products.
• Create and iterate physical or virtual prototypes.
• Utilise CAD software to produce accurate drawings and models.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure designs meet technical requirements and standards.
• Conduct testing, validation and optimisation of designs before final delivery.
• Identify and solve technical challenges, contributing to ongoing product innovation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in design engineering, product design and CAD.
• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering, including systems design and analysis.
• Experience with electrical engineering design processes.
• Excellent problem‑solving ability and capacity to manage multiple tasks.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Relevant professional certifications or accreditation are an advantage.
