Assistant General Manager – Manufacturing Operations

About the role

The Assistant General Manager will support the General Manager in driving operational excellence across a multi‑branch manufacturing business. This senior role focuses on building scalable systems, ensuring consistent standards, and translating strategy into day‑to‑day actions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, improve and maintain systems that increase efficiency, measurability and manageability across all branches.
• Establish clear standards for service, discipline and output, and regularly review branch performance against these standards.
• Convert company strategy into actionable operational plans, monitor performance, deadlines and daily rhythms.
• Identify and remove bottlenecks and inefficiencies between departments.
• Lead, coach and develop Branch Managers and Department Heads, fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.
• Support commercial decisions by analysing operational impact on pricing, margins and profitability.
• Drive adoption of modern digital tools and platforms for reporting and management control.
• Oversee supply chain, revenue functions, support functions and operational risk across the organisation.

Required profile

• Matric or relevant NQF qualification; CA (SA) qualification is a plus.
• Minimum of 4 years proven senior management experience, preferably at a manager‑of‑managers level.
• Experience operating in a multi‑branch environment with exposure to Sales, Operations, Administration and Finance.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
