Accountant (Remote, 3-5+ years experience)

About the role

Shift Markets is looking for a remote Accountant to join its Finance team. Reporting to the VP of Accounting, you will own bookkeeping, accounts payable, and financial reporting across multiple legal entities, helping to improve accuracy and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end bookkeeping and accounting processes for several entities.
• Execute daily financial operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general‑ledger management in QuickBooks Online.
• Oversee accounts payable workflows: invoice processing, payments, adjustments, and vendor communication.
• Support monthly close processes with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
• Produce ad‑hoc financial reports for internal stakeholders and leadership.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in reporting and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with the VP of Accounting to improve reporting challenges and streamline processes.
• Leverage AI tools and automation to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

Required profile

• 3 to 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles, including GL, debits/credits, and reconciliations.
• Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable, and financial reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and a track record of accurate execution.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
