Zone Controller

About the role

The Zone Controller oversees the daily operations of a courier hub, ensuring collections, shipments and vehicle readiness are executed on time and to the required service standards. This supervisory position coordinates couriers, manages documentation, and works closely with the ground operations supervisor to optimise routes and staffing.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor on‑time collections and re‑check sorting of team shipments.
• Verify that all required materials (stickers, flyers, vouchers, bags, declaration letters, airway bills, etc.) are stocked in courier bins.
• Hand shipments, run‑sheets and scanners to ground couriers and ensure they leave the station as scheduled.
• Provide feedback on route and load distribution to update the routing system.
• Determine skeleton staffing levels and coordinate courier vacations with the ground operations supervisor.
• Maintain service‑level performance on the delivery side and ensure all documentation (PODs, invoices, delivery sheets, vehicle checklists) is completed promptly.
• Oversee vehicle cleanliness, checklist completion, accident reporting and radio functionality.
• Monitor staff timekeeping, appearance and disciplinary actions, and handle leave documentation.
• Assist the senior supervisor with quarterly performance appraisals and employee support.

Required profile

• Proven experience in logistics or courier operations supervision.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with senior supervisors, account managers and ground staff.
• Ability to enforce safety and security standards for cargo, personnel and vehicles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with collection sheets, run‑sheets and scanning equipment.
• Familiarity with airway bills, POD documentation and vehicle checklist procedures.
