Urban Designer

About the role

Zutari is seeking a creative and dynamic Urban Designer to join its Urban Sustainability team in Cape Town. The role focuses on delivering innovative urban design solutions for public and private sector projects across Africa and the Middle East, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and placemaking.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing urban design proposals, concept plans, and visualisations for diverse development projects.
• Develop analysis drawings, diagrams, and 3D models using design software.
• Integrate climate‑resilience and sustainability principles into design solutions.
• Compile presentations, project documentation, and tender proposals.
• Conduct site and contextual analyses to inform design decisions.
• Research emerging trends in sustainable urban design and placemaking.
• Support stakeholder consultation processes and prepare related materials.

Required profile

• Creative mindset with a passion for cities and sustainable design.
• Strong graphic and drawing abilities, able to work across multiple scales.
• High level of digital proficiency and collaborative teamwork orientation.
