Universal Banker – Client‑focused Sales Consultant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, client‑focused sales consultant to join our branch banking team as a Universal Banker. In this frontline position you will engage customers, identify their financial needs and provide tailored banking solutions while driving sales growth and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Engage clients across branch and digital channels to understand needs, resolve queries and recommend appropriate banking solutions.
• Identify sales and demand‑generation opportunities, promote relevant products and contribute to branch sales targets.
• Open, amend, transfer and close client accounts in line with procedures, risk controls, KYC, POPIA and FAIS requirements.
• Assess client financial profiles using account conduct, income, expenditure and scorecards to provide informed recommendations.
• Educate clients on digital banking, self‑service channels, product features and their rights under the Code of Banking Practice.
• Maintain accurate records, update management information and support a high‑performing branch environment.

Required profile

• National Certificate or equivalent NQF 5 FAIS‑aligned qualification in banking, financial services, commerce, sales or a related field.
• 3–4 years of experience in branch banking, financial services, contact‑centre sales or a client‑facing sales environment.
• Proven sales track record with experience in cross‑selling, meeting growth targets and identifying client needs.
• Strong understanding of banking products, account opening, application processing and customer acceptance requirements.
• Experience working in a regulated environment with strict adherence to risk, compliance, KYC, POPIA and FAIS standards.
• Ability to build rapport, ask the right questions, handle pressure and deliver practical solutions.
