Tax Director – Group Tax Leadership (Cape Town)

About the role

Apex Group is seeking an experienced Tax Director to lead its global tax compliance and reporting function from Cape Town. Reporting to the Global Head of Tax in London, you will mentor a local team and oversee a complex, multi‑jurisdictional tax portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and manage a three‑person tax compliance and reporting team based in Cape Town.
• Oversee corporate income tax filings for more than 250 annual submissions across 40+ countries, coordinating with external tax advisors.
• Drive the Group’s BEPS Pillar 2 and Country‑by‑Country Reporting (CbCR) initiatives.
• Lead tax aspects of the Group’s consolidated audit and contribute to entity‑level tax disclosures.
• Manage tax cash‑flow, ensuring accurate reflection of tax payments in budgets and plans.
• Enforce adherence to the Group’s Tax Policy Statement and risk‑management framework.
• Support transfer‑pricing compliance, including the Transfer Pricing Master File and Outsourcing Policy.
• Maintain relationships with global tax authorities and handle investigations or disputes.
• Oversee VAT and GST filings for the Group.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant – CA(SA) qualified (or equivalent) with over 10 years post‑qualification experience.
• Proven leadership experience managing tax departments or global tax reporting teams.
• Deep knowledge of corporate income tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience with BEPS Pillar 2, CbCR, and transfer‑pricing frameworks.
