Software Engineer – Python & Data Integration (On-site, Knysna)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer who combines strong Python development with data‑driven problem solving. Based on Thesen Island in Knysna, you will work on‑site building integration tools, automating business logic and creating internal front‑end applications that support our operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop Python‑based solutions for data integration, automation and core business logic.
• Write and optimise SQL queries to extract, transform and load data from existing systems.
• Build and maintain internal tools and interfaces using JavaScript, HTML/CSS and, where appropriate, modern frameworks such as React.
• Collaborate with outsourced or partner developers to deliver custom applications.
• Apply analytical thinking to translate business processes into technical specifications.
• Support and extend the existing Power BI environment, including DAX enhancements.

Required profile

• ≈2 years of experience in software development, data engineering or technical analysis.
• Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand data flows and business context.
• Comfortable improving existing systems through code and eager to take on broader technical ownership.

Required skills

• Python development (essential).
• SQL for data extraction and integration.
• Front‑end development with JavaScript, HTML/CSS and optionally React.
• Familiarity with Power BI and DAX (advantageous).
