Senior C# Backend Engineer (Hybrid, Cape Town)

About the role

Protium is seeking a Senior C# Backend Engineer to join our Cape Town team. This hybrid position combines on‑site collaboration at our Claremont office with remote work, allowing you to design, build, and ship production‑grade APIs and services using C#.NET, and Azure technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality, API‑driven backend systems.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery of backend features, from planning through testing, release, and production support.
• Implement business logic, data access layers, background services, and scheduled processing components.
• Work with SQL Server, Entity Framework Core, Dapper, and RESTful integrations.
• Participate in code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and engineering standards.
• Mentor intermediate and junior developers through pairing and technical discussions.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience with C# and .NET/ASP.NET Core.
• Proven track record building and supporting REST APIs in production.
• Deep understanding of SQL Server, relational design, query performance, and indexing.
• Ability to work independently, make technical trade‑offs, and communicate decisions clearly.
• Based in Cape Town and available for regular office meet‑ups.
