Research Development Engineer – Innovation (Intermediate)

About the role

As a Research Development Engineer – Innovation (Intermediate) you will be a core driver of Clickatell’s R&D initiatives, turning high‑level ideas into tangible SaaS features. You will work closely with engineers, researchers and product teams to design, prototype and deliver innovative solutions that keep our AI‑driven chat commerce platform ahead of the market.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth research on industry trends, emerging technologies and competitor offerings.
• Generate and propose innovative concepts that improve our SaaS products.
• Develop proof‑of‑concept prototypes to validate new ideas.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (software developers, designers, product managers) to bring projects to life.
• Document research findings, design decisions and development processes.
• Test and validate new features to ensure high quality and performance.
• Own complex “Stories”, navigate ambiguity and deliver end‑to‑end solutions with minimal oversight.
• Ensure code is modular, data‑driven, secure and ready for production (“Day 2” readiness).
• Mentor junior engineers and graduates through guidance and code reviews.

Required profile

• Proven ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges and drive projects from ideation to execution.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and leading small tactical pods.
• Strong collaborative mindset with experience working alongside developers, designers and product owners.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying up‑to‑date with emerging technologies.
