Registered Nurse – Palliative & Hospice Care

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to join our palliative and hospice unit at Greendale House. The successful candidate will deliver holistic nursing care, addressing the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, check, and control all patient medications in accordance with drug control policies.
• Manage ward stock, order scheduled drugs, and ensure proper storage.
• Supervise and support nursing staff to maintain high standards of patient care.
• Provide counselling to patients, families, and staff when a professional counsellor is unavailable.
• Maintain accurate documentation of drugs, procedures, orders, and patient progress.
• Execute doctors' orders and directives from the Palliative Services Manager.
• Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds and share relevant patient information.
• Foster a safe and collaborative working environment within the unit.

Required profile

• Formal nursing qualification with registration on the South African Nursing Council.
• Proof of current professional indemnity insurance.
• Minimum five years of nursing experience, preferably in palliative or hospice care.
