Project Developer

About the role

Scatec is looking for a Project Developer to join its Cape Town team. The role will lead the development and structuring of utility‑scale renewable energy projects from early opportunity through to financial close and start‑up of construction. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to secure land, permits, financing and contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead negotiations for project acquisitions and manage the transaction process.
• Support equity and debt financing efforts to achieve financial close.
• Coordinate internal and external development activities, including land acquisition, permitting, interconnection rights, PPAs, EPC and O&M agreements.
• Manage the structuring and financial closing phase with internal resources, consultants and external advisors.
• Implement project controls such as scheduling, cost control and contract management.
• Communicate progress to stakeholders and develop mitigation strategies for project risks.
• Conduct market reviews, analyse regulatory developments and contribute to regional development strategies.
• Lead bidding processes and prepare bid packages for RFPs from utilities and off‑takers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Law (Master’s degree is a plus).
• 5‑7 years of experience in renewable‑energy IPP, investment banking, project finance, operations or global management consulting.

Required skills

• Project finance structuring and financial modeling.
• Project controls including scheduling, cost control and contract management.
• Regulatory analysis and market assessment for utility‑scale renewable projects.
