Optical Fibre Technician (Contract)

About the role

LST COMS PTY LTD is seeking a skilled Optical Fibre Technician to join its project team on a contract basis. The role involves installing, splicing, testing and maintaining fibre optic networks across Gauteng and the Northern Regions of South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Install and terminate single‑mode and multi‑mode fibre optic cables.
• Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fibre cables.
• Conduct OTDR testing, troubleshoot faults and produce test reports.
• Install fibre distribution frames, patch panels and enclosures.
• Carry out site surveys and provide technical assessments.
• Complete accurate as‑built documentation.
• Follow health and safety regulations on all sites.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients and site supervisors.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of hands‑on experience as an Optical Fibre Technician.
• Proficiency with fusion splicing equipment and OTDR testing.
• Experience with aerial and underground FTTH/FTTB installations.
• Ability to read and interpret fibre network drawings and schematics.
• Valid South African driver’s licence (Code 8 or higher).
• Willingness to travel across Gauteng and Northern Regions.
