Merchandise Buyer – Fashion Retail

About the role

We are looking for a driven Merchandise Buyer who thrives in a fast‑moving, trend‑led fashion environment. You will translate global runway, street‑style and social‑media insights into commercially successful product selections that resonate with our target customers.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse sales data, forecast demand and manage budgets to protect profit margins.
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, reliable delivery timelines and long‑term partnerships.
• Apply pricing strategies and competitor insights to balance trend relevance with profitability.
• Plan forward‑ordering cycles across multiple product categories while meeting tight deadlines.
• Collaborate closely with merchandising, logistics and sourcing teams.
• Present ideas, align cross‑functional teams and provide clear product feedback.

Required profile

• 4+ years buying experience in retail or clothing manufacturing (ladieswear, menswear, kidswear, accessories or footwear).
• Relevant tertiary qualification in a related field.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to make data‑driven decisions under pressure.
• Resilient, adaptable and solutions‑focused mindset.
• Passion for fashion and retail environments.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with retail systems and digital buying tools.
