Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Cape Town

About the role

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will ensure reliable operation of SBV machinery at our Cape Town site. Working closely with the Mechanical Maintenance Manager, you will execute preventative maintenance plans, respond to equipment failures, and support continuous production.

Key responsibilities

• Perform repairs and routine maintenance on automated electro‑mechanical equipment.
• Execute preventative and corrective maintenance according to OEM standards and site schedules.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections, fault diagnosis, and early fault detection.
• Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts to minimise downtime.
• Compile and submit daily and monthly performance reports, including uptime, downtime and maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and support ESG reporting requirements.
• Act as a change champion, promoting company values and a performance‑driven culture.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years hands‑on experience as an on‑site technician supporting automated or industrial equipment.
• Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Millwright, Electrician, Fitter & Turner) or a National Diploma/NQF Level 5 in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics engineering.
• Experience with preventative and corrective maintenance in a continuous‑operations environment; cash‑processing or security‑controlled experience is advantageous.
• Basic computer literacy (MS Office) for maintenance reporting.
