Live-in Guesthouse Manager – 4‑Star Property

About the role

We are looking for a professional, hands‑on Guesthouse Manager to lead the daily operations of our 4‑star guesthouse in Hermanus. The role is live‑in, offering on‑site accommodation, and requires a focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences while maintaining high hospitality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome guests, manage check‑ins and ensure outstanding service throughout their stay.
• Oversee housekeeping, maintenance and public area standards to meet 4‑star quality.
• Coordinate room allocations, occupancy planning and manage reservations via property management systems and online travel agencies.
• Supervise staff schedules, attendance, performance and provide training and coaching.
• Handle guest invoicing, payments, reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Assist with budgeting, cost control, petty‑cash management and reporting of revenue.
• Organise routine and preventative maintenance and ensure compliance with health, safety and hospitality regulations.
• Support marketing activities, monitor online reviews and develop strategies to increase occupancy.

Required profile

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in hospitality, guesthouse, lodge, boutique hotel or hotel management.
• Proven ability to manage guest relations and resolve complaints promptly.
• Strong leadership skills with experience supervising housekeeping and maintenance teams.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.

• Experience with property management systems and online booking platforms.
• Budgeting, cost‑control and basic financial administration.
• Knowledge of health, safety and hospitality regulations.
• Basic marketing and social‑media awareness.
