Junior Maintenance Technician – Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Maintenance Technician to join a fast‑paced manufacturing environment in Germiston. The role supports the maintenance department with electrical and mechanical tasks, fault finding and preventative maintenance, offering a solid foundation for a newly qualified Millwright, Electrical or Mechatronics professional.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance tasks assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Assist with electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs.
• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
• Minimise production downtime during maintenance activities.
• Support installation of new plant, machinery and equipment.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and equipment failures.
• Maintain housekeeping and safe working standards.
• Comply with company policies and Health & Safety regulations.
• Undertake overtime, shift and standby duties as required.
• Assist management with additional projects and maintenance tasks.

Required profile

• Qualified in Electrical, Millwright or Mechatronics (Millwright Trade Test acceptable).
• Limited or no post‑trade experience – ideal for recent graduates.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems and controls.
• Own reliable transport and residence within 30 km of Driehoek, Germiston.
• Willingness to work overtime, shifts and standby duties.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of PLC and HMI systems.
• Basic computer literacy and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Understanding of diagnostic and fault‑finding tools.
• Coding experience (advantageous).
