Junior Infrastructure & Virtualisation Engineer

About the role

TenacIT is seeking a Junior Infrastructure & Virtualisation Engineer to join its Gqeberha engineering team. You will work hands‑on with virtualisation platforms, backup solutions and storage systems to keep client environments stable and performant.

Key responsibilities

• Support and maintain Proxmox as the primary virtualisation platform.
• Monitor hypervisor health, cluster performance, storage utilisation and resource availability.
• Provision, configure and manage virtual machines for internal and customer projects.
• Assist with HA cluster operations, capacity planning and host performance optimisation.
• Perform migrations, including VMware‑to‑Proxmox moves, with minimal downtime.
• Monitor and troubleshoot Veeam Backup & Replication and Nakivo Backup Server jobs.
• Maintain backup storage health, retention policies and execute VM‑level restores.
• Monitor storage pools, perform performance tuning and apply platform updates for Proxmox, VMware ESXi/vCenter and firmware.
• Provide infrastructure support to client‑hosted environments and attend client meetings for reporting.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with virtualisation and infrastructure operations.
• Familiarity with backup platforms such as Veeam and Nakivo.
• Ability to troubleshoot hypervisor, storage and network issues.
• Strong communication skills for client interaction and documentation.
• Motivation to work in a fast‑paced, on‑site environment.
