Insurance & Asset Management Technology Graduate Programme – Data Engineer

About the role

The Data Engineer graduate position is at the heart of Standard Bank Group's Insurance & Asset Management Technology division. You will help build and maintain the data infrastructure that powers business insights and decision‑making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise data pipelines for reliable, scalable, and secure data access.
• Work with big‑data platforms and cloud services such as AWS and Azure.
• Manage relational and NoSQL databases including Oracle and MS SQL Server.
• Utilise data‑processing tools like Power BI, Python, Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3 and MS Graph.
• Apply automation and DevOps practices using Docker, GIT, Bitbucket, JIRA and Confluence.
• Support analytics and reporting solutions to deliver actionable insights.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree (completed or finishing in 2026) in Computer Science, AI/ML, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Informatics, Software Development, Data Engineering, Data Science or related fields.
• South African citizenship, under 30 years of age.
• Maximum two years of work experience.

Required skills

• AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
• SQL and NoSQL databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server).
• Python programming.
• Power BI, Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, MS Graph.
• Docker, GIT, Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence.
