Financial Controller – Illovo/Sandton, Johannesburg

About the role

An established, high‑growth organisation operating across South Africa and the continent is seeking a technically strong Financial Controller. The role will own operational finance, treasury, reporting integrity, compliance and financial controls within a complex, multi‑entity commercial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operational finance and treasury functions.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes.
• Ensure reporting accuracy, compliance and robust financial controls.
• Prepare for and coordinate external audits.
• Handle statutory compliance, tax filings and governance requirements.
• Support multi‑entity/group finance activities and cash‑flow management.

Required profile

• Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles (non‑negotiable).
• 3+ years post‑articles experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or senior finance role.
• 3–5 years of people‑management experience.
• Strong treasury, cash‑flow management and financial‑controls expertise.
• Experience with audit preparation and external audit coordination.
• Exposure to statutory compliance, tax filings and governance controls.
• Background in multi‑entity or group finance environments.
• Experience in infrastructure, construction, engineering, mining, manufacturing or similar sectors is preferred.
