External Account Manager – Mining

About the role

As an External Account Manager – Mining you will lead the growth of Brenntag’s commodity chemical portfolio within the mining industry. Leveraging your network and technical knowledge you will develop new business, deepen existing relationships and position Brenntag as a trusted supply partner for mining operations and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and expand a portfolio of mining customers (categories A & B).
• Identify, develop and close new business opportunities for reagents, bulk commodities and process chemicals.
• Drive product penetration through cross‑selling and upselling within existing accounts.
• Build solution‑focused relationships with procurement, metallurgists, plant managers and engineers.
• Achieve sales and gross‑profit targets while optimising margins.
• Maintain a robust pipeline of at least three times the monthly target.
• Conduct regular site visits (minimum 20 per week) and technical discussions on‑site.
• Monitor market trends, commodity cycles and competitor activity.
• Provide accurate forecasts, reports and CRM updates.
• Collaborate with product managers and technical teams to deliver fit‑for‑purpose chemical solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, Hazchem and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of external sales experience in chemicals, mining supply or related industrial sectors.
• Proven track record selling commodity chemicals, reagents or bulk chemicals to mining operations.
• Strong commercial acumen with focus on margin protection and profitability.
• Ability to operate independently in a field‑based, target‑driven environment.
