Environment Operator – Biological Treatment Plant

About the role

The Environment Operator will run the Biological Treatment System (BTS) plant, ensure process quality, and support environmental compliance across the site. You will work on a shift basis, coaching teammates and assisting the Process Artisan with asset care activities.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the BTS plant and associated process areas during assigned shifts.
• Execute quality control checks, analyses and ensure process productivity.
• Maintain a safe, healthy work environment and coordinate autonomous maintenance and cleaning.
• Achieve BTS PTS compliance targets and support environmental compliance under the VPO Environment pillar.
• Perform shift administration, apply SAP and Microsoft tools, and communicate effectively with the team.
• Apply problem‑solving and decision‑making techniques as defined by VPO management.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education with Maths and Science.
• 2–3 years experience in water‑treatment or effluent‑plant operation.
• Experience in a process‑controlled manufacturing environment, preferably food/FMCG.
• Understanding of utilities and water‑treatment processes.
• PC literacy, including Microsoft Office and SAP.
