About the role
Mediclinic is seeking an Emergency Doctor to deliver high‑quality, safe clinical care to patients presenting to the emergency centre. The role involves diagnosing, treating and dispositioning patients in line with best‑practice standards while supporting a multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- Provide safe, quality clinical care in the emergency centre.
- Assist with teaching and coordinate clinical development programmes to improve patient care.
- Support nursing staff in applying the South African Triage Scale.
- Participate in company strategies such as PatientsFirst@Mediclinic.
- Engage in quality improvement and assurance initiatives for continuous safe patient care.
- Maintain up‑to‑date emergency medical knowledge and expertise.
Required profile
- Essential education: MB BCh/MB ChB.
- Desired education: Diploma in Emergency Care (Dip PEC) or MPhil.
- Essential experience: Completion of internship and community service years.
- Desired experience: Post‑community‑service work in an emergency centre of a private or public hospital.
Required skills
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
- Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- South African Triage Scale.
- Knowledge of relevant South African health legislation and HPCSA regulations.
