Data Analyst Internship (1-year)

About the role

This one‑year internship supports Discovery Vitality’s mission to promote healthier lifestyles by assisting the data team with reporting, analysis and visualisation tasks. You will work on extracting data, building dashboards and automating routine processes while gaining exposure to the wellness and financial services sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Write SQL queries to extract data for internal and client reporting.
• Support basic analytics requests and develop regular risk reports.
• Create and maintain dashboards and visualisations using PowerBI or SSRS.
• Contribute to the automation of reporting and data‑processing workflows.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to ensure data quality and timely delivery.

Required profile

• Matric and an Honours degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving ability and effective communication.
• Ability to manage priorities, adapt to change and work well in a team.
• Enthusiasm for learning and personal growth.

Required skills

• Intermediate MS Excel.
• Basic SQL knowledge.
• Fundamental statistics and analytics concepts.
• Experience with PowerBI or SSRS reporting tools (highly advantageous).
