Corporate Treasurer

About the role

The Corporate Treasurer will lead day‑to‑day treasury operations for Massmart, ensuring effective cash and liquidity management, compliance with regulatory and internal policies, and continuous improvement of treasury processes.

Key responsibilities

• Execute daily cash management activities, monitor balances, forecast liquidity and prepare short‑term funding requirements.
• Perform bank account reconciliations, monitor banking transactions and resolve unreconciled items promptly.
• Manage foreign‑exchange requests and deal submissions using the Treasury Management System (TMS) in line with approved mandates.
• Release business‑related payments on schedule, adhering to delegation of authority (DOA) guidelines.
• Prepare weekly and monthly cash‑flow reports with variance analysis and recommendations.
• Maintain KYC compliance, banking mandates, access rights and segregation of duties.
• Support compliance with South African Reserve Bank and Central Bank regulations, including FX reporting and repatriation tracking.
• Oversee monthly reconciliation of treasury balance‑sheet accounts and review treasury journals for accuracy.
• Maintain relationships with banking partners, track fees and identify cost‑reduction opportunities.
• Participate in projects such as bank integrations, mandate changes and store openings/closures.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of treasury operations, cash management and liquidity forecasting.
• Experience with regulatory compliance, KYC and banking relationships.
• Ability to analyse cash‑flow data, identify risks and propose improvements.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Treasury Management System (TMS).
