Chief Accountant - Africa

About the role

The Chief Accountant will be based in Cape Town, South Africa and will join a team of two other Chief Accountants covering African countries. Reporting to GSS management, the role is responsible for ensuring high‑quality, cost‑efficient finance support and corporate compliance across multiple African legal entities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file statutory reports and ensure compliance for entities in Nigeria, Ghana and Morocco.
• Drive standardisation of accounting processes, chart of accounts and cost‑center structures in collaboration with the Global Shared Services centre.
• Work with Business Controllers and GSS to harmonise daily, weekly, monthly and annual reporting.
• Monitor share‑capital movements, dividend payments and ensure adherence to equity and dividend regulations.
• Ensure compliance with Group accounting standards, International Accounting Standards, statutory and tax rules.
• Oversee tax compliance, support tax reviews and assist in the preparation of tax reports for annual group and statutory accounts.
• Act as the primary support for annual audit and statutory compliance matters in the region.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of local accounting regulations and internal control procedures in African jurisdictions.
• Proven experience in statutory reporting, tax compliance and financial statement preparation.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and drive process standardisation.
• Accountability to senior GSS management and capacity to act as a compliance steward.
