Architect – Design and Delivery of Industrial Facilities

About the role

Join Hatch Architecture’s Johannesburg office as an Architect, contributing to the design and delivery of industrial and mission‑critical facilities. You will work alongside designers, engineers, and project managers to produce high‑quality architectural deliverables for diverse projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop architectural concepts, schematic and detailed designs, creating sketches, perspectives, diagrams and presentation material.
• Produce construction drawing sets, specifications, reports and studies across all design stages.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary design with discipline leads, project managers and external stakeholders.
• Assist senior architects and interior designers on design research, project administration, construction administration and close‑out tasks.
• Mentor junior and intermediate staff, overseeing their work and supporting skill development.
• Build client relationships and expand professional networks.

Required profile

• Master of Architecture (M.Arch) or equivalent professional qualification.
• Registered architect with SACAP.
• 5–10 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in a consulting engineering environment.
• Experience in brownfield and greenfield industrial developments.
• Proven mentorship experience and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD and architectural design software.
• Ability to produce freehand conceptual sketches.
• Strong skills in creating architectural construction drawings.
